We aren't here to remind you to pack your bathing suit, shorts, or underwear. This list is to help you remember the things that are more obscure vacay necessities when traveling to Cape May Beach, NJ
Remember To Pack...
- TP and Paper Towels - We provide a "starter supply" of each so that you have what you need when you arrive. If your stay is a week or longer, you may need more. We also supply liquid hand soap, dish soap, and a starter supply of laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent,
- Beachy Transportation - Bikes, scooters, a beach wagon, strollers, and whatever else you need to help "get around".
- A Good Beach Read - (or borrow one of ours...or visit the Fern Rd Free Library (https://www.houfy.com/tinaschmidt/posts/books-are-best-at-the-beach-14512378).
- Reusable Shopping Bags And Straws - NJ is doing its part to reverse the environmental damage from the excessive and damaging use of single-use plastics. There is a ban on many plastics you might be accustomed to using. HERE are the details. We provide a few reusable shopping bags for your convenience (in the laundry area), but think about bringing some of your own if you like shopping!
- Bluetooth Speaker - something for around the house or at the beach. Headphones and earphones are a nice addition as well.
- All Your Content Logins - Whether you are a cable/satellite subscriber or a veteran of streaming services, bring your usernames and passwords with you on vacation. We utilize streaming for all our TV and music content, so those logins will prove very useful on vacation.
- Skincare - Sunscreen, lotions, aloe - you will want all the things to keep that youthful glow! We provide shampoo and body wash in each bathroom, and a small first aid supply.
- Toys - WE have a beach toybox that includes up to four beach chairs, a boogie board, sand toys, a couple of rafts, bocce ball, and corn hole. We "inventory" the items twice a year. You may want to bring more toys depending on the number of beachgoers in your group. If you have room, pack a pump or small compressor for those things that inflation.
- Medications - We've forgotten this before (for the doggo!). Don't make the same mistake!
Things You Do NOT Need To Pack

Packing Tips From Vacationing Veterans
- Do your shopping after you've arrived. Even if you are arriving late at night, consider just packing enough food to get you through that first late-night meal or snack, and then roll out the next morning to one of our local stores to shop for the duration of your stay. It won't save you any money, but it can really help save on critically needed space in your vehicle!
- Bring (or buy, once you arrive) some leftover food containers to take things back home with you (we have a number of great leftover storage containers for during your stay, but they stay here when you leave).
- Disposable dishware - If you don't even want to deal with dishwashing (even with a dishwashing machine), consider paper plates, plastic cups, disposable hot drink cups, and lids (to take your caffeine to-go). It will save on your "vacation work".
Safe travels and pack only 'til the car is full (the rest you can buy when you arrive)!
