Owner
I am a wife and mom of four very active kiddos. I also work part time as a licensed clinical social worker, practicing psychotherapy. Our family loves to travel to different places. We enjoy the outdoors and especially love the mountains and the ocean! We enjoy hiking, biking, dirt bike riding, surfing, and skiing. Our family has been a part of the airbnb community as guests, for several years. We are always responsible and respectful of the homes in which we stay.
I am also an Airbnb host for our family cabin located in Big Bear Lake, Ca. I especially appreciate the love and commitment that goes in to opening up your home and our home to guests. :) I take great pride in our vacation rental and enjoy giving families a special place to to gather, relax and make magical memories! I am always appreciative for the opportunity to host our guests at Swiss Miss Chalet, Big Bear Lake.

Additional Info-
SUMMER/FALL MONTHS:
-Please be advised. Although summer months on the mountain tend to be 10-20 degrees cooler than lower altitudes- it can still become quite warm July-September. Like most vacation rentals in Big Bear, our cabin does not have air conditioning. Instead there are many windows, ceiling fans on the second and third floors, as well as portable fans provided for all bedrooms. The third floor can become very warm during the summer- please prepare for this appropriately.
WINTER/SPRING MONTHS:

Tire chains or 4 wheel drive vehicles are required November- April. PLEASE BE ADVISED-You must have chains in your vehicle at all times during these months- CHP often has check pointed and will not allow you up the mountain without them in your vehicle. For current weather and road conditions Please plan your trip to Big Bear Lake accordingly and visit:

- Big Bear often gets plenty of snow during the winter months. Please come prepared with appropriate snow attire, and vehicles that can manage safely in wet, snowy, icy conditions. We encourage you to check weather and road conditions prior to your stay as well as during your stay- as weather conditions can change quickly. ALWAYS bring snow chains/cables or a vehicle with all wheel drive capabilities and winter traction tires.
-The driveway/porch will be shoveled and/or plowed as needed-prior to your arrival.
-Please be advised, even with the driveway shoveled/plowed- ice IS slippery. We strongly encourage guests to wear slip resistant snow boots and bring snow chains or vehicles equipped with all wheel drive/tires with traction in order to safely maneuver through icy, snowy conditions.
-During the winter months we also provide shovels and ice melt for the driveway and walk ways. There is a bucket located on the deck, next to the BBQ. Please help yourselves, if you feel these areas become slippery during your stay. Please reach out to us if you need additional assistance with snow removal and we will be happy to provide you with additional resources for snow removal companies in Big Bear Lake.

FROM CALTRANS:
There is the possibility of snow in the mountains. We want to remind everyone of a few things when you are planning your commute.
Do not trespass onto private property. CHP is in close contact with property owners who have been advised to contact Law Enforcement immediately of trespassers. The CHP and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department will respond in haste to cite or possibly arrest trespassers.
Do not leave your trash, keep our mountains clean! Take what you bring with you or find a trash can and throw it away. Law enforcement will issue you a citation and make you pick up your trash.
Do not park in the roadway or no parking zones. Parking citations will be issued. If you leave your vehicle parked in a roadway, your vehicle will be towed, or pushed by emergency personnel if there is exigency to render aid.
Do not pull over into turnouts to play in the snow. Only play in designated snow play areas. A lot of these turnouts are for emergency situations or where we are setting up chain control. They also assist emergency personnel in getting around traffic to a scene.
Do not ask us if you should bring chains. BRING THEM. It’s winter, and weather can be a little difficult/unpredictable. No matter the vehicle - BRING. YOUR. CHAINS. If chain control is issued, you will be prepared since you have them.
DO NOT try to pass and go around a snow plow. You will not win this battle. You are endangering the lives of our workers, and yourself. We are plowing the roads to help you! Be patient so we can do our jobs and get you to your destination safely.
Anytime you make a trip to the mountains or remote desert areas always bring the following: food, water, cell phone with charger, warm clothing, emergency blankets and first aid kit.
Try not to drive during inclement weather. If you have to drive during that time, make sure you slow down and leave enough space between vehicles.
Use #Quickmap when planning your travels. It can display all sorts of stuff like road conditions, traffic, chain control and more!
Enjoy your travels!
