Elk Park Retreat is a modern family-friendly cabin in Welches with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.
Located only a short one-hour drive from Portland in the mountain community of Welches, Elk Park Retreat is a world away. The property is conveniently located less than 2 miles from the grocery store and multiple restaurants and shops. It is the perfect base for exploring the hiking, biking, snow sports, golfing, fishing and other outdoor activities Mt. Hood offers. Comfortably accommodates 6 guests.
The 1200 sqft cabin has been freshly remodeled with all new kitchen and bathrooms and designer touches throughout. Stylish, comfortable furnishings provide a relaxing vibe to spend time with your friends and family.
Enjoy preparing meals in the fully-equipped kitchen with gleaming quartz counters, new appliances, and a deep basin sink. This kitchen has everything you need: pots and pans, coffee maker, toaster, dishes for grown-ups and kids, cutting boards and utensils. Have a seat at the peninsula with 3 bar stools or gather at the dining room table.
In the open floor plan living room, lounge on the luxe sectional sofa or the swivel chair. You will also find two cozy poufs for extra seating that are also perfect for sitting in front of the wood burning stove. Enjoy a movie on the 55” Roku TV with Sonos soundbar; the Roku guest mode will let you use your favorite streaming services. There is a cabinet stocked with books, games and puzzles for your leisure time.
After a day of adventuring, unwind in the new hot tub. The spa accommodates 6 guests and is maintained at a comfortable 102 degrees, with an easy to open and close cover. Spa towels are provided. We recommend sandals or other shoes to walk to the hot tub.
The elegant primary suite offers a king size Nectar Premier Hybrid bed, a large vintage MCM dresser, and a closet for stowing your items. Freshen up in the en-suite bathroom, which has a low curb walk-in shower with custom tile and a luxurious rain shower head.
The inviting second bedroom contains a queen bed with a comfortable Casper mattress and a dresser.
The forest-themed third bedroom contains twin bunk beds, a beanbag chair and a cabinet holding a selection of kids books and activities.
The hall bathroom features a deep bathtub perfect for bubble baths.
The laundry room has a new high-efficiency washer and dryer and environmentally friendly products.
High-speed Internet is provided with WiFi reaching throughout the cabin.
We have also provided the following amenities for your convenience: phone chargers in each bedroom, pack-n-play, kids dishes, step stool, cleaning products, extra pillows, towels and blankets.
An EV charger is located on the side of the carport next to the house.
Surrounded by a grove of towering cedar and fir trees, the cabin is painted a subdued green to blend in with the wooded landscape. In the warmer months, fire up the gas grill and dine al fresco on the back patio. Enjoy the peaceful forest setting and relax in style.

Please be aware that a recreation pass may be required to visit some of forest service sites. Passes can be purchased at the USFS Ranger station (cash only) in Zig-Zag, Welches Mountain Building Supply, Hoodland Thriftway, or other retailers.
Guests will receive a personal code to unlock the cabin prior to check-in which will grant access for the duration of the reservation. Codes to a digital lockbox will be provided to access keys if necessary. The door lock is syncd with Airbnb and so the code will be available in the arrival info as will wifi details. the code will only work for the duration of your stay, so any early check-in or late check-out will need to be approved beforehand and cannot be guaranteed.
The cabin accommodates 6 guests, including children.
A private hot tub is located in the backyard under the swaying trees.
Private driveway with parking for up to 3 vehicles, including 1 carport space with EV charger. No street parking allowed per county regulations.
No access to attic permitted. Airstream parked on property is not included in rental.

A quiet neighborhood that is a mixture of vacation homes and full-time residents.
Most guests will select to drive, however you can easily walk or bike on the roads as they are all very low traffic. Walk to the bridge over the Salmon River and watch the salmon spawning in season.
The cabin is located near 1500 feet of elevation. The roads are paved to the driveway and are maintained by the county, including snow removal. While it is rare, during times of significant snowfall an AWD/4WD vehicle is recommended as the short driveway is not plowed.
We encourage the purchase of travel insurance, cancellations will not be granted due to snow or other weather events.
Pet rules: One well-behaved dog is allowed. Please do not let your dog on the sofa. Note that the yard is not fenced. Please clean up after your pet and dispose of waste in the outside garbage can. Failure to do so will result in additional cleaning fee of $75. You are liable for any damage your dog may create.
The cabin is located on community water which is served by natural springs. The cabin has a sensitive septic system. Guests must not flush “flushable wipes” or anything other than waste and toilet paper down toilets.
The neighbors on one side are full-time residents and have two dogs. There is a chainlink fence between our properties.
We ask that the spa be kept closed when not in use.
The EV charger offers 40-amps charging and a J1772 cord, if you drive a Tesla you will need an adapter to charge.
- Enclosed porch available to store recreation items, boot dryer provided.
- A Weber Genesis BBQ grill is available seasonally.
- The hot tub is provided as an amenity, no refunds will be offered in the rare event it is not available.
- A Solo Stove outdoor fire pit is available seasonally. It must be fully extinguished before left unattended. It must be stored indoors to prevent damage by the weather.
- The wood burning stove is offered as a luxury, only clean firewood is permitted to be burned. Do not burn any paper products, garbage, food items, or other non-wood items to prevent damage to the clean-air system. Instructions for operating the wood stove are in the guest guide book.
- Please do not collect wood on the property or within the forest to burn.
- Firewood is readily available at the Thriftway market, Mt Hood Building Supply, and multiple roadside stands in the community.
- We are located in a forested area that is at risk of wild fires. Before having any open flames outdoors please be aware of current fire risk levels and burning ban. A phone number will be provided in the guest guide book to check status.
- Clackamas County noise ordinance prohibits any loud noises between 10 pm and 7 am. We are located in a peaceful community and ask that all guests be respectful to our neighbors.
- Any noise complaints may result in early removal from the property in accordance with county regulations. If this occurs, no refunds for remainder of the reservation will be granted.
- Access to the attic including the exterior stairs is not permitted.
- The shed within the barn and the Airstream stored onsite are not available to guests.
