A unique eco-friendly romantic get-a-way for couples.
The Sun Barn is a 20 ft x 12 ft structure made from reclaimed and recycled materials. Dozens of windows make it feel like youre camping outside.
ATTN: Bathtub closes for winter 2024 and will reopen May 15th . Hot showers available again starting May 1st.
For the true glamping experience sleep on the premium king sized memory foam mattress. (we also provide a set of fresh clean sheets, duvet and pillows.)
The Sun Barn is one of 5 unique structures on a 4 acre farm. Every guest, has their own parking spot, sparkling clean private port-a-potty toilet, Weber propane grill. Each campsite is spaced more than 150 feet apart for optimal privacy.
If youre here during a clear night, you will be dazzled by star gazing and wonder in awe at how clearly you can see the Milky Way from our field.
Highlights:
- 2 person eco-tub with stunning panoramic views of the Catskill Mountains.
Note: water is not heated, it is stored rain water. However we provide a small amount of pre-boiled water in metal urns.
- King sized mattress with full bedding.
- Classic cast iron wood burning stove (used in colder months)
- Free unlimited satellite Wi-fi internet (with moderate speeds)
- Indoor eating table and 3 chairs.
- Outdoor Picnic table and 2 benches.
- Large sink with access to water storage tap.
- Real port-a-potty style toilet 25 feet from Sun Barn
- Propane Weber BBQ grill. (propane included)
- Complimentary 5 gallon cooler, pre-filled with frozen blue ice packs.
- Complimentary 2 gallons of drinking water.
- Solar powered walk way lights and indoor lamp (with USB charger)
- Hosts live on-site and can help or advise at any given time.
The Sun Barn is a very unique structure an has an interesting history. Was built piece by piece, with many reclaimed building materials over a 3 year period. It started out as a green house.
Thus it is rustic in nature, and some would say ruff around the edges. We are not responsible for the discomforts of nature (including but not limited to weather, bugs, etc)
If you desire a more modern and luxurious form of glamping, then check out our other listings called The Buck and Glamp Palace and The Tiny Stargazer. Theses structures are much more contemporary and categorized as tiny houses.

I began hosting guests in my New York home back in 2009. My first guests were two students from the Czech Republic who stayed one week. In 2010 I hosted 5 international students from Turkey. They were hosted for 3 months because they came for Work And Travel program.
In 2020 I started a glamp ground in the Catskill Mountains of New York. Today I have 5 unique structures and hosted more than 700 couples. I also have a Youtube channel called THE GLAMP MAN where I discuss the business side of STRs.

Refundable Damage Deposit
We collect a $200 security fee. This fee may not be returned based on any damages to the property or cabin under the reservation of the guest. It is returned 5 days after check out and guests can expect the refund to be returned within 3-5 business days after that.
Cancellation Policy
A full refund is given for cancelations made more than 7 days before the date of arrival. There is no refunds if a cancelation is made with less than 7 days before the start date of your reservation.
Notes
Note: Campfires are NOT ALLOWED to be made by guests at any time. At this elevation in the mountains the wind can get quite strong. This is why we provide a propane gas grill for your cooking needs.
We do a lot of preparation to keep critters out because this structure is a barn in the middle of nature, do be prepared to meet insects (flying and crawling), with the occasional cameo appearance of a country mouse.

FAQ
1. Is there electricity in the Barn?
No, but we provide access to an extension cord from our house in a nearby farm wagon. You are welcome to use it for phone charging needs or to use a hot water electric kettle.
2. Is there hot water? No, not exactly. The sink water tap available from a 2.5 gallon jug for brushing teeth and washing hands is just cold water. And for the eco-bath there is a metal barrel filled with fresh rain water. It is room temperature and is used to take a bath or shower. However, you can use the electric water kettle, and we provide a few large coffee style urns with hot boiled water already made.
Many guests, in colder months, also boil a large pot of water on the cast iron stove.
